Scuttlebug.

My favourite book series ever is Skulduggery Pleasant.  I mean, it's amazing. It's AWESOME. It's every positive word you can think of crammed into one book to make a story about a skeleton detective and a girl who become partners and solve magical crimes.

And I guess when you put it like that....it sounds like 11 year old reading material, right?

Nuh-uh.

When anyone asks "So, what's Skulduggery Pleasant about?" the very first thing I say is: "...Eh..."
It's not because I don't know what to say, because I know EXACTLY what the books are about, but saying to someone, "It's about a magical talking detective who partners up with a 12 year old and they stop old gods coming back! >:3 " gets people thinking "...Are you high?" or "....Are you 9?"

So yeah. The initial plot sounds...Not very serious and such, but DAMN are the books good. They're really...Gripping (not in THAT way, thank you very much), and the plot is so well thought out and by the time you get to Book 5, Mortal Coil, you're like "He's been planning this from the start, HASN'T HE? *accusing glare*." I've found myself sobbing during some of the books, for example books 3, 4 AND 5. Especialy 5. My God how I cried at that. The end wasn't even MEANT to make you create the next river Nile in your room, but just how it ended was really emotional.

I could go on for yonks about how awesome the books are, and how you should absolutely most DEFINATELY read them (which you bloody well should), but I'm not going to, because all you have to do is pick up a copy and by page 1 you're hooked. Completely.

And check out the wonderful Golden God Derek Landy who graced the earth with the books, and his blog on HERE, and his Bebo, and the Skulduggery Pleasant Facebook page, AND the website, join the Munchkin Army and then go make yourself a sandwich...

Or something.
